Regenerative Periodontal Therapy

Regenerative Periodontal Therapy

Bone loss around teeth is in general the hallmark of gum disease. In some situations, the contour of the bony defects resulting from gum disease may be shaped in such as ways that bone grafting materials may be placed inside the defects to potentiate new bone formation around teeth. If so, a regenerative periodontal therapy is indicated.

The goal of regenerative periodontal therapy is to re-grow the lost bone and tissues around your teeth to reverse the damage caused by your gum disease. This procedure usually involves the use of bone grafting materials, membranes which act as barriers, and growth factors that facilitate the process of regeneration.
