Dental Implant Restorations

Dental Implant Restorations

Periodontists work with the restorative dentists (e.g. general dentists or prosthodontists) to provide patients with dental implant therapy. Periodontists are responsible for the surgical aspect of implant therapy while the restorative dentists provide patients with the final implant restorations that patients will see inside their mouths when the treatments are completed.

There are many different types of implant restorations. Dental implant restorations include the following:

  1. single-unit implant crown – to replace 1 missing tooth
  2. implant bridge – to replace several missing teeth in the same area of mouth
  3. implant denture – to replace multiple missing teeth (implant denture offers far better retention and support than the conventional denture, and implant denture can also be removed by the patient)
  4. implant hybrid prosthesis – to replace multiple missing teeth (implant hybrid prosthesis offers better chewing ability than implant denture, and the hybrid prosthesis cannot be removed by the patient)
